DescriptionThe second of two covering letters from R J [Richard Joseph] Sullivan to Sir Joseph Banks affirming that Chaptal had not submitted his essay to any other societies or publishers. Sullivan also requests on behalf of the Royal Academy of Toulouse that the Royal Society answer or acknowledge the receipt of their memoirs.

A manuscript note in another hand reads 'See rapport fait a l'acad: R. des sciences le 10 juin 1789 annales de chimie tom 3 p 46. The R.S. will not print this till they see whether that memoir bears too near a relation to it'.

Written by Sullivan in Marseille [Provence, France] and addressed to Banks in Soho Square [London].
