Description | Sladen presents a series of 'peculiarities of structure' of Astrophiura permira, including the combination of ophiuroid disk- and arm-structure within a pentagonal asteroid form of body, the asteroid character of the ambulacral system, the rudimentary structure of the mouth-armature, the extension of the peritoneal cavity to the extremity of the functional portion of the rays and the continuity of the tentacular pore-system limited to the disk only.
Marked on front as 'Archives Oct 31/78'. Note reads 'Drawings returned to author May 22/79. See Council Minutes May 15'. Includes an appendix and a letter dated 26 June 1878.
