Title | Unpublished paper, 'On the functions of the foetal liver and intestines' by Robert James Lee |
Creator | Lee; Robert James (fl 1864); Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society |
Date | 1864 |
Description | Lee writes: 'From a careful examination of those points in which the growth of the human foetus resembles that of the foetal bird and of those points in which they differ, it will be seen that the functions of some organs at present imperfectly understood become evident and their relation to one another and their combined actions far more simple than is generally supposed.' He presents a brief description of the structure of the human foetus and its mode of development before describing the foetal bird and then comparing the two.
