Title | Unpublished paper, 'On current curves' by R L [Richard Lionel] Hippisley |
Creator | Hippisley; Richard Lionel (1853-1936); member of the Royal Engineers; Director of Telegraphs in South Africa during the Second Boer War |
Date | [1892] |
Description | The object of the present paper is to show how to determine expressions for the current in circuits having iron cores, similar to the well-known equations i = E/R (1 ‒ e^[-Rt/L]) and i = E/√(R^2 + p^2 L^2) sin (pt ‒ θ) for circuits without iron, which will enable the current curves to be pre-determined by calculation and plotted independently of experiment.
Annotations in pencil and ink throughout.
Subject: Mathematics / Physics
Received 12 May 1892. Read 16 June 1892. Communicated by [Percy Alexander] MacMahon.
Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 52 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On current curves'. |
