DescriptionSome members of the Academy of Sciences [in Paris] would like "a fair and honorable correspondence with the Royal Society for the communication of our respective ideas and discoveries." They would like Blagden to be in charge of the exchange, but he said he would have to discuss this with Banks. Passes on news of experiments with the heat of water for Mr Cavendish. Describes fog, they say that it is "extremely phlogisticated by its effect upon metals". Discusses Count de Willy's findings on venomous plants. If Banks is writing to Dr Priestley can he let him know that the Academy received Blagden's account of his experiments with great pleasure. Describes M Lavoisier and M de la Place's new theory of combustion.Hopes that his journey will have been of benefit to science. If Banks wants any more books he should send Blagden a list as soon as possible.
