DescriptionHas received a letter from his sister who has told him that he is esteemed negligent in writing to his aunt. Is in good health and therefore will not alter the course of exercise he has proescribed for himself - during his vacation has been exploring Edinburgh's surrounding countryside on foot. Describes the main events of his expedition accompanied by Mr Gibb. Describes encounter with a drunk horseman firing his pistol at curlews and his trip down a coal mine.
