DescriptionOn behalf of the [Paris] Academy [of Sciences] welcomed with great interest the beautiful experiments of Mr Cavendish on phlogisticated and dephlogisticated air. They have already repeated some of the experiments but with different results, gives thoughts on reasons why. Gives news of paper by Mr Lavoisier on the explosion of nitre [saltpeter] and describes his discoveries of 1781. Describes papers by Mr Gingembre, a young chemist on caustic alkali and a paper by Mr le Blanc on the natural history of platinum. Describes his experiments to determine the composition of a volatile alkali.
