TitleLetter from Richard Chenevix, Madrid to Charles Blagden, Brighton
Date12 August 1807
DescriptionThanks him for his two letters. Still does not know the date of his departure. Will return via Valencia and Barcelona, there is not enough time for him to go to Geneva. Will not remain long in Paris and then will go to London. Discusses a person who has been trying to prevent him from travelling. Prefers [the government in] Constantinople as it is freer than in Madrid. Describes how he has not been in favour with the Ministers. "Spying is very great in Paris very great in Vienna it is nothing to what it is here". Will not regret leaving Madrid.
