DescriptionHis letters were delayed due to war between England and Prussia. Discusses changes in Germany, advises Blagden not to visit Berlin or Gottingen. He is unable to travel due to his leg. Advises Blagden not to sign or initial his letters. Gives recommendations of lodgings in Weimar including those with Madame Schiller, widow of Schiller who died very poor. Goethe has gone to baths in Germany for his health, "the Literary world here is almost at an end". Gives directions concerning mathematical instruments. Asks Blagden to send him a portrait print of Fox. Asks about Blagden's plans for the summer. Asks about English Gentleman Prisoners at Verdun and their release. Asks about parliament, the state of the King's eyes and the probablility of peace between England and France and England and Prussia.
