TitleLetter from John Stanley Gardiner, Zoological Laboratory, Cambridge, to the Secretary, the Royal Society, Burlington House
Date17 March 1914
DescriptionForwarding a petition requesting the Royal Society to rent a table at the Roscoff Marine Laboratory, founded by Henri Lucaze Duthiers, with the present Director, Yves Delage. For the years up to 1912, the Laboratory offered hospitality without charges, despite what happened elsewhere in Europe. Because of press of space and for financial reasons including the cost of equipment, the Laboratory must now charge £60 per annum. The Roscoff contains 37 private rooms with sea-water, freshwater, tanks and electricity, drawing upon the Sorbonne for resources. Other facilities exist. Its situation opposite Plymouth [Marine Laboratory] makes it important for Channel researches.
