TitlePrinted Letter from Arthur James Balfour, Whitehall, to Sir William Huggins
Date12 June 1903
DescriptionBalfour acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Huggins dated 11 June written on behalf of the Royal Society. This letter refers to an answer given in the House of Commons on 26 May on the subject of the Antarctic Expedition.

This document supplements and completes the information which the Treasurer and the Senior Secretary of the Society were good enough to give Balfour at a recent interview. The facts brought towards Balfour exonerate the Royal Society from any responsibility for those incidents in connection with the original application for Government assistance. Balfour leaves Huggins at liberty to communicate any information deemed necessary in the interests of the society.
