Date30 October 1901
DescriptionExplanatory note to two forms of memorial [memorandum], one attached [the other CD/2/2] requesting that Council should take into consideration the advisability of limiting the tenure of office of any future Treasurer or Secretary. The two memorials were sent to all Fellows of the Royal Society.

This first printed memorial consist of two lists of Fellows' names: '1. The undersigned Fellows of the Society hold the opinion that it is detrimental to the interests of the Royal Society that any Fellow should in future hold office as Treasurer or Secretary of the Society for longer period than ten years... five years preferred as a limit.'
