TitleLetter from F. Campbell Bayard, Secretary of the Royal Meteorological Society, to the Royal Society
Date20 November 1902
DescriptionIn reply to the Royal Society's letter, informs them that the Royal Meteorological Society considers the endeavours to explore the upper regions of the atmosphere, by means of balloon and kites, of great importance for the science of meteorology. Emphasises that such experiments carried out across the equator would be most valuable. Points out that the Royal Meteorological Society has been carrying out experiments across the British Isles with the help of the British Association and the Royal Society Government Fund. Would be pleased to share the results of experiments with the Royal Society. Suggests approaching the Admiralty, because observations in the equatorial regions could be most conveniently made at sea.
