Description | On the direction of the Meteorological Council, informs the Royal Society that they have received, from the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, a copy of a note from the German Charge d'Affaires, enclosing copies of decisions adopted at the third meeting of the International Committee for Scientific Aeronautics. Emphasises the importance of observations on the upper air by means of balloons and kites, in the British Isles and India. Informs the Royal Society that the Meteorological Office will offer assistance if possible, and have contacted Major Trollope (instructor in ballooning at Aldershot) and Professor Hergesell (Chairman of the Aeronautical Committee). Asks if the Royal Society will cooperate with the Meteorological Council in making an application to the Treasury for funds. |
