TitleLetter from Sir Thomas H. Holland, to James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society
Date19 May 1925
DescriptionInforms Jeans of a letter written by the Head of the Department to a friend, about 'a certain candidate for the Royal Society' [Meghnad Saha]. Has been asked to destroy the letter after reading it. Discusses two courses of action [regarding Saha's candidature for election as a Fellow of the Royal Society]:
(a) if the principal supporters think it wise to withdraw their signatures, then the question will automatically disappear
(b) or if not, Holland ought to raise the question at an early Council Meeting and let them consider it.
Suggests briefly meeting at the Athenaeum [Club] to show Jeans the letter.
