TitleCopy letter from [James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society], to Sir Ernest Rutherford
Date12 June 1925
DescriptionInforms Sir Ernest Rutherford that he has been nominated the next President of the Royal Society, and hopes that he will accept. Has heard that Rutherford is spending the Autumn in New Zealand, and so will miss the first Council meeting. Asks if he might alter his plans to come back for the Anniversary Dinner on 30 November - if this is not inconvenient - otherwise, makes plans for the current President, [Sir Charles Scott] Sherrington, to preside in Rutherford's absence. Assures Rutherford that there is nobody he would sooner have as President, both for the good of the Society and from his own personal view.
