TitleLetter from Owen Willans Richardson, to James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society
Date28 November 1925
DescriptionHaving considered the Moll and Burger instrument [microphotometer], and communicated with [Thomas Ralph] Merton, expresses the opinion that this instrument is the only one that will deal with the intensities of a large number of lines, and that with the facilities at Richardson's disposal the construction of such an instrument is 'quite hopeless'. Sugests that the instrument would have high value to the Royal Society. Notes that the Government will appropriate about 25% of the price. Encloses the maker's description of the instrument [CD/41/6].
