TitleLetter from Francis Galton, 42 Rutland Gate, to Robert Farquaharson
Date5 June 1900
DescriptionEdridge Green's paper has at last reached him. Galton does not think the contents are sufficient to warrant recalling the committee [on colour blindness]. The Board of Trade could change instructions if convinced of its necessity. Galton cannot remember if his correspondent took part in the previous experiments, but the lantern test, in which Galton had faith, turned out to be both untrustworthy and troublesome to manipulate. He became convinced of the wools test. In a postscript, Galton notes that he is not 'Sir Francis'.

The letter has a heading in Galton's hand: 'For Dr. W. Pole's use.'
