Description | In reply to the letter to Robert Harrison, the letter from Hickson, Bourne and Sedgwick was read to Council on 8 July and the resulting resolution requested the President to act as he saw fit. He was in communication with the authorities at the British Museum and read their statutes: he could find nothing that impaired the freedom of action of the Director in regard to the scientific arrangements in his charge. He concluded that friction arising between the two divisons of the Museum arose from personal character, rather than from the regulations. With the new Director, amicable relations have been established. Therefore the Royal Society will not move for an inquiry. |
