Title | Letter from Sir Peter Jeffrey Mackie, Mackie & Company Distillers Limited, 217 West George Street, Glasgow, to William Bate Hardy, Secretary, Royal Society, Burlington House, London |
Description | The expedition is interesting and important. Although money is tight at present, the Royal Society has been courteous in inviting Mackie to many functions and he has met distinguished scientists there. He prefers to do things right away and therefore if he is permitted to be the sole donor, he would give £1,000. He encloses two leaflets which he has recently published, one on domestic servants, and one on secret strike ballots. |
