Description | The Earl of Cadogan's solicitor, Mr. Pemberton, called and Upton communicated to him the terms on which the Society of Apothecaries were willing that the Royal Society and College of Physicians should have a portion of the purchase money for the Chelsea Physic Garden. In view of the immense costs to the Apothecaries in maintaining the garden, Pemberton considered the offer liberal and his sympathies were with the Apothecaries. Pemberton considered that it was desirable for the Royal Society and the College of Physicians to communicate their decision quickly. |
