Description | Concerns separating gold and silver from different chemical compounds using four methods - 'parting' by aqua fortis, 'test' by melting, 'sweep' using an almond furnace, 'quick silver' to separate precious metal filings from dust. The methods and equipment employed are described and the spheres which most commonly employ each method identified. e.g quick silver method used by goldsmiths.
