DescriptionPaper regarding a way of making two inflammable liquids which, when mixed together, produce a carnation colour without any fermentation or alteration. The first liquid is made from soaking dried red roses in spirit of wine [purified alcohol], and the second from mixing purified alcohol with spirit of vitriol [sulphuric acid].

English translation published in Philosophical Transactions as 'A way to make two clear spirituous inflammable liquors, which differ very little to taste and smell and being mixed together, do give a fine carnation colour, without sensible fermentation or alteration'.
