DescriptionBoyle describes how one of his maids was surprised to find something 'luminous [...] where the meat had been hung up before' in the larder. He observes the meat, a neck of veal, and finds it to 'shine like rotten wood or stinking fish'. He writes that the parts that shone the most were 'some gristly or soft parts of the bones' and part of a tendon. Followed by a draft with annotations in ink throughout.
