DescriptionThe terms of reference and membership of the National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics as set out in paper NM/1 (48). See first meeting on 22 Maqrch 1948 for explanation of the circumstances leading up to the formation in 1947 of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mecvhanics, and a discussion on the functions of the British National Committee and the relations between future international congresses of applied mechanics, the national committees and their constituent institutions. Also receipt of copies of Statutes of the International Union which had been nadopted by the Council of the Union in April 1947; also reported on correspondennce between Dr Dryden (U.S.A.) and Professor Burgers (Secretary of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics) relating to the Statutes.
