Title | Letter from Professor Minchin to E Ray Lankester, Chairman of the Tropical Diseases Committee |
Date | 13 June 1905 |
Description | Hopes to send a report soon on the anatomy of glossine -- thinks that 'what people have called so far the salivary gland is simply the pharynx, and the salivary glands have not been seen'. Asks if the Committee objects to having his leave extended. Describes some 'rumours' about what will happen to the lab -- notes that Hayes Sadler wants to move it all to an island in the lake, because of fears of infecting other people by keeping monkeys infected with sleeping sickness -- suggests that the simplest way around this would be to put up fly-proof shelters for the monkeys. If a move is to be made will reconsider his position, as he does not think to put himself and his wife at such risk of contracting the disease. p34. |
