Recounts the request for advice from the Foreign Office on 19 July 1902 following the receipt of a request from the German Government that Great Britain should join an International Seismological Association and send delegates to be held early the next year.

The President summoned a Committee of Fellows interested in the matter on 29 July 1902, which emphasized the international character of the seismological work of the Committee of the British Association, and recommended the International Association of Academies should be consulted as this matter was in its province.
