1. Minutes of meeting held on 29 July 1902 read and signed.

2. The Chairman reported on the action taken by the Council of the Royal Society upon the report of the Commitee, and on the appointment by H.M. Government of Professor G H Darwin and Professor Milne as delegates to attend the Conference held at Strasburg in July 1903

3. Memorandum and Report by the delegates laid before the Committee

4. The delegates read to the Committee confidential reports on the Conference they had presented to the Board of Education, and the Chairman reported the steps being taken in the hoope of securing fromt he CArnegie Institute a grant in aid of the maintenance of the Seismological Organisation inaugurated by the British Association and now being directed by Professor Milne.

5. Discussed, then moved and seconded by Professor G H Darwin and Mr Horace Darwin ' That this Committee beg leave to report to the Council of the Royal Society that they are of opinion that it is desirable that Great Britain should join the International Association for Seismology. '

6. Amendment moved by Professor Turner, seconded by Professor Parry ' (1) That this Committee is of opinion that any moderate subsidy likely to be available would be most profitably expended in supporting the seismological work inaugurated by the British Association: and that there is urgent need of such help, which should be a first call on any such funds. (2) That assuming this need supplied, the Committee would approve the further co-ordination of the work by joining the proposed Association. '
The amendment carried by 7 votes to 2

The amendment put as a substantive motion, and moved as an amendment by Mr Horace Darwin, seconded by Professor George Darwin, that the Second paragraph be omitted. This amendment lost by 5 votes to 4.

7. Amendment by Professor Carey, seconded by Professor G H Darwin, that the second paragraph be substituted by 'And while regarding the assured continuance of this work as the matter of greatest importance, the Committee recommend that this country should join the proposed Interanatinal Association for Seismology. ' This amendment lost by 5 votes to 3

8. Motion proposed by Professor Turner carried by 6 votes to 2, and it was resolved ' to recommend to the Council accordingly. '
