Discussion of an academic memorial, and its location eg Tyneside or elsewhere; cost would be around £25,000. Chairman wished to go back to the main committee with a unanimous opinion if possible. Agreed not to consider further the North East Coast Scheme
Discussion of a chair with regard to fuel and power; felt appeal for such a purpose not likely to receive much support. This propositin left aside.
Chairman summarised that at the moment, the London House scheme seemed the most national in character though problems over funding which could be overcome. Must not forget they needed to raise money for the memorial in Westminster Abbey and the Lectureship. Discussed possible sums needed. Committee agreed that if the financial position coudl be demonstrated to be satisfactory, the London scheme shoukld be recommennded.
Agreed a letter should be sent to Colonel Crompton and then forward to the big power companies in this country asking if they would contribute financially to a memorial.
