TitleReport, 'The forseeable needs of science in the next decade'
Date30 October 1956
DescriptionDescribes the need for more money for scientific research; notes that the Royal Society 'is in a favourable position to impress upon the Treasury the urgent need for more money' and notes a lack of urgency in the government attitude toward science development. Lists equipment most needed, such as electron microscopes, centrifuges, reagents, glassware, animals. Notes the need for more scientific staff at universities and better pay. Suggests that the present rate of scientific expansion is 'much too slow'. pp64-66.
