' Reslved that Mr Baily be elected President, and Mr Fisher Secretary to the Committee.
The several resolutions of the Council relative to the Committee having been read, Resolved that in the opinion of their Committee it is not desirabnle to increase the number of its members.
A paper by Mr Maclean intitled "Observations made at the Cape of Good Hope in the Year 1838 with Bradleys Zenith Sector for for the Verification of the Amplitude of the Abbe De la Cailles Arc of the Meridian, by order of the Lords Commissioners ot the Admiralty" having been referred by the Council to this Committee on the expediency of its being printed in the Transactions.
Resolved that the Committee consider that their paper ia a valuable addition to Science and ought to appear in print ; but that it is in fact a continuation of a paper already printed in the Memoirs of the Royal Astronomical Society and will moreover involve a considerable expence in printing ; under which Circumstance they leave it to the Council to decide on its disposal.
