The President stated the meeting was to consider the propositions from the Council as to the basis of the changes intended to be made in the Statutes.

Proposed by Mr Greenhough, seconded by Mr Amyot 'that the first proposition be now read' Captain Beaufort moved, Mr Musrchison seconded an amendment ' That it is the opinion of theis Committee that it will be expedient to obtain a new Charter which shall limit the Society to a definite number of Fellows ' and subsequently postponed.

First proposition read and Mr Daniell moved 'That the propositions which have been communicated to the meeting be printed and sent round to the Members of the Committee; together with Captain Beaufort's notice fo motion, and also the notice of a motion by Mr Daniell 'that the number of Black Balls to exclude, on the Ballot of Candidates for elelction into the Royal Society, be diminished' and that a notice of a day for discussing the same be given. '

Mr Pepys seconded the motion, which was put and carried.
