1. Terms of Reference and Membership - reported by Chairman [SIC/1 (47)]
(i) To advise on the preliminary organization of teh Scientific Information Conference
(ii) To report to the Council
Membership of Committee to be Sir Edward Sallisbury; Sir Alfred Egerton; Professor E N da C Andrade; Professor J D Bernal; Sir David Chadwick; Mr F P Dunn; Professor H Munro Fox; Dr W L Francis; Dr Alexander King; Dr L H Lempitt; Sir Clifford Paterson (or Dr L G Brazier as his deputy); Professor Samson Wright

2. Terms of reference of the Conference [SIC/2 (47)]
After discussion, it was decided that ' the Conference should embrace all scientific subjects, including agricultural sciences, engineering sciences and medical sciences, but not including social sciences.
Agreed to add Ceylon, Eire, Newfoundland and the colonial Office to the list of those overseas countries of the British Commonwealth receiving invitations to attend the Conference
Reported invitations to attend already accepted by Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa, and the Secretary fo the Working Party of the British Commonwealth scientific Official Conference had been officially notified by the Royal Society of the steps being taken to arrange the Conference.
Reported overseas representatives had been asked to obtain representative opinions of scientific workers in their respective countries by means of a committee or by any other approporiate means so that the representatives coming to the Conference may be fully informed of their country's needs and the opinions of its leaders in the subject.
Considered list of British representtives to be invited, and agreed to add Science Library to those listed in [SIC/2 (47)] and to consider further at the next meeting. Also to issue invitations to those listed.
Stated thsi was essentially a Commonwealth Confirence by that the USA was being invited as it was intended tht the Conference in june shoudl be a preliminary to a world conference on the same subject.

3. Appointment of an Assistant - agreed required for preparations for the Conference and that he be paid not more than £1,000 a year.

4. Title for the Conference - to be ' The Royal Society Scientific Conference.'

5. Proposals for Agenda of the Conference
Considered {SIC/3 (47)] which had suggested titles for memoranda. Decided reponsibility for preparing memoranda for each of the four sections in the hands of editors-in-chief ;
1. Publication and Distribution of Papers reporting original work - Professor J D Bernal
2. Abstracting Services - Sir David Chadwick
3. Indexing and other Library services - Dr H T Pledge
4. Reviews, Annual Reports, etc - Professor H Munro Fox
Agreed the proposals 'should be communicated forthwith to the representatives of the countries attending the Conference.'

6. Date of next meeting - 2.30 pm on 28 January 1948

Recommendation to Council - " that an assistant be obtained to help in the preparation for the Conference and tht he be remunerated at a rate not exceeding £1000."
