Gives committee business -- an audience with Sir Arthur Yapp, at which W H Thompson and William B Hardy made some points against his proposed rationing scheme, and convinced him of the need to have a committee of advisors -- a list of proposed names for this advisory committee -- consideration of a letter from Lafayette Mendel about continued investigations on the nitrogen content of potatoes -- Hardy's report that he received a paper from Captain Robinson on the anti-scorbutic properties of concentrated juice -- consideration of a letter from C S Orwin of Oxford University asking for the Committee's data on the minimum requirements for the average working class family -- deferment of memos on food supply and sugar pending further information -- appointment of a sub-committee to deal with the question of moulds and foodstuffs -- passing of a resolution on rationing of meat -- agreement against a proposal submitted by the Wheat Commission to import whole grain wheat, as this would 'increase the cost without increasing the supply of cereal' -- consideration of a report from Chaston Chapman on the possibility of dogfish as a new fats supply -- consideration of a suggestion that issuing crude oil to the public for frying would alleviate butter shortage. p181-186.
