The Chairman read minutes of the Council of 31 October 1895, 17 October 1895, 7 November 1895, 1 May 1895, of Board D in May 1895, and of the Sollas Application Committee May 1895 establishing the setting up of the Committee, its personnel, purpose, and both vessel and finance [from the Admiralty]

Considered the offer of the New South Wales Government Department to lend a drill for use in the exploration. Professor Stuart to be reqested to send a full list and description of the boring machinery and appliances proposed to be lent to the Committee, and a list of queries to be sent be cable [listed]

Committee to apply to the Council fo the Royal Society for the sum of £20 to meet telegraphic and other expenses

Council to be requested to add name of Commander Field to the Committee

Resolved impracticable to carry out determination of undergroooound temperatures in a bore hole as suggested by Professor everett

Abstracts of letters read from Captain Creak and Professor Darwin concerning tidal and magnetic observations, and Secretary to write to Professor Rucker concerning the ship's magnetic instruments

Admiral Wharton suggested boring would probably have to be made at the widest part of the reef.
