2. Vice Chariman is the temporary secretary because of unavailability of Professrs Sollas and Watts

3. Discussed the finance position of the Committee to Sydney, and agreed to recommend to the Council of the R oyal Society to 'grant from the Government Grant Reserve Fund £200 for the immediate necessities of the expedition. '

4. Letter read from Professor David of 17 May 1898 asking for suggestions re the new borings. Suggestions from Sir J Evans and Sir J Mussary to be communicated to Professor David.
