Matters discussed; 1. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed.
2. Chairman communicated the minute from Council of 15 June 1899 in which the Committee requested, and was granted, authorisation to prepare the publication of a volume on Funafuti [Copy of printed minute cut out and pasted into minutes]
3. Statement by Professor T W Edgeworth regarding the second and third expeditions to Funafuti, some of which occurs in Professor Judd's statement read at the last meeting others added to this statement by way of interpretations and corrections,
4. Vice Chairman presented a financial statement, in connection with the expenses incurred by the third expedition or in working up the materials obtained by the different expeditions [Statement listed in detail in minutes] Resolved to apply for a grant of £70 from the Government Grant Committee, or the Donation Fund of the Royal Society
5. Resolution proposed by Profesor Judd, seconded by Sir W J Wharton passed ' That the Vice Chairman of the Committee be requested to aid Professor Sollas and the other members of the Committee by undertaking the general editorial supervision of the volume which is to be issued by the Royal Society. '
6. Professor E Ray Lankester and Dr G J Hinde to give assistance in the working out of some of the results of the expedition
7. ' The Vice - Chairman read an outlline of proposed place of the Memoir, which was approved. '
8. ' Professor Judd and Sir W J Wharton proposed and seconded a very hearty vote of thank to Professor T W Edgeworth David for the invaluable services he had rendered in connection with the expeditions, and in bringing to a successful issue the objects of the Committee. ' |
