1. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed

2. Letter read from Sir A Geikie, Sir John Evans, Professor M Foster

3. Names of Professors Edgworth David and Anderson Stuart added at the chairman's request

4. Telegrams from Profesor Stuart concerning the apparatus, and referring Sollas to Dr Martin for further information as to the resources of the colony in boring apparatus read.

5. Read letter from Professor Stuart explainaing about the apparatus to be lent

6. Read letter from Profesor Foster conveying Mr Stanley Gardiner's offer to be second naturalist at his own expense if can choose his own subjects for investigation

7. Read letter form Mr Slee, Superintendant of diamond drills and chief inspector of mines in the colony concerning wages to be paid and recommendations re equipment

8. Discussed schedule as presented by Professor David of apparatus specifications (report attached)

9. Letters of thanks to be sent to the Honourable the Minister for Works, the Honourable the Minister for Mines and Agriculture, and the Superintendent of Diamond Drills and Chief Instpecto of Mines W H J Slee Esq. F.G.S.

10. Resolutions adopted;
A. On the proposition of the Chairman that in reconsideration of the resolution on the minutes of the last meeting, discretionary power be given to Professor Sollas, in the event of rock other than coraliferous limestone being met with in the boring, to continue the operation, provided always that the sum at the disposal of the Committee be not exceeded
B On the proposition of Profesor Judd seconded by Admiral Wharton, that subject to the consent of the Royal Society to furnish the necessary funds, the handsome offer of the Honourable Minister for Mines and Agriculture and of the Honourable Minister of Works at Sidney, be accepted, and that the boring at Funafuti should commence with a diameter of 4 inches and provisison be made for carrying it to the depth of 1000 feet

11. Admiral Wharton submitted a revised estimate [pasted in]
