Matters discussed;
1. Report read by Professor Sollas on the general conduct of the expeditions to Funafuti ' the principal events, the causes of the failure to penetrate deeper than 100 feet and 72 feet in the two borings, and the several scientific results of the expedition. '

2. Secretary presented a copy of the Statement of accounts to date [attached as separate report] Sir John Evans and Sir A Geikie to audit the accounts when the diamonds were sold.

3. After discussion it was agreed that £40 granted by the British Association be drawn

4. ' Mr Wolfe Barry and the Secretary were instructed to dispose of the carbonados to the best advantage. '

5. President and Secretary to write letters of thanks to all who had been mainly instrumental in helping forward the expedition.

6. Resolution proposed by Admiral Wharton, seconded by Sir John Evans, carried unanimously ' That the Committee are of the opinion thast Professor Sollas, in abandoning, under the conditions he has reported, further attempts to prosecute the boring,came to a very proper conclusion, and that the thanks of the committee are due to him for the manner in which he conducted the expedition under his charge. '

7. Proposed by Sir John Evans, seconded by Sir A Geikie ' that the Chairman and Professor Sollas should prepare a preliminary report for presentation to the Royal Society. '
