DescriptionLetter from Sir Alfred Yarrow to the President, Sir Charles Sherrington, dated 6 February 1923 read to the Council of 15 Feruary 1923, where Yarrow proposes to give £100,000 for a fund for encouraging original scientific research. At a Council of 22 February 1923, item 3, it was agreed 'that the following be appointed a Committee to make recommendatins to Council as to the general use and administration of the Yarrow, Messel and Foulerton Funds ; The President, the Treasurer, Professor H C Carpenter, Professor T H Elliott, Mr W B Hardy, Mr J H Jeans, Professor O W Richardson, and Sir Arthur Schuster. ' Interim report received at Council of 22 March 1923, item 11. Final acceptance of gift at Council of 3 May 1923, item 3. Letter of thanks from Sir Alfred Yarrow read at Council meeting of 14 June 1923, item 2, and detailed recommendations for use of fund item 5. Committee appointed at meeting of Council of 5 July 1923, item 6 - Resolved
1. That the following be appointed the Yarrow Fund Management Committee: - Sir William Bragg, Professor H C Carpenter, Professor W E Dalby, Ssir Richard Glazebrook, Principal J C Irvine, Professor H Lamb, Professor O W Richardson, Sir Robert Robertson, Sir Ernest Rutherford, Sir James Walker, Sir Alfred Yarrow, together with the Treasurer and Mr Jeans ex-officio
2. That a certain number of the members of the Yarrow Fund Management Committee shall retire every December in accordance with the general regulations as printed on page 49 of the Year Book, 1923, but that no member shall retire except at his own wish before the end of 1927.'
