2. Appointment of Mackinnon Research Student - candidates S A Barker, B H Briggs and C Gordon Little were interviewed, and resolved that ' under the authority granted to the Committee by Council at its meeting on 13 July 1950, Dr S A Barker be appoointed mackinnon Research Student from 1 October 1950 at a stipend of £500 a year together with superannuation allowance, to work on the enzymic synthesis of polysaccharides. '

3. Stipend of Mackinnon Research Student - agreed that ' the Committee would view sympathetically a suggestion that the stipend of £500 be increased at a later stage during the tenure of the Studentship, and that this matter should be reviewed in a year's time. '
