DescriptionPresent at the Council: Sir Robert Moray, Vice President; Lord Vise Stafford; Lord Henry Howard of Norfolk; Lord Bishop of Chester; Sir Theodore de Vaux; Dr Jonathan Goddard; Mr Daniel Colwall; Dr Walter Needham; Mr Creed; Mr Henry Oldenburg

Mr Oldenburg presented a proposal from Mr Evelyn to let out Chelsey College for a prison house during this war, with a suggestion that he hoed to get a rent of one hundred pounds per annum for it, besides some necessary repairs of the house.

Ordered that the President, the TReasurer and the Secretary should have power to agree in the name of the Council with Mr Evelyn about this proposal, and conclude with him if the one hundred pounds per annum together with good repairs could be achieved. If agreement is concluded, a report be made to the Council for passing it under the Seal fo the Society.

Ordered Mr Evelyn be thanked for his care for the concerns of the Society.

Proposed by Mr Howard that the five acres of land lying about the said College could be let to some person that will hedge it about, for any rent.

Sir Robert Moray proposed he would speak with Captain Thornhill about this letting.

Mr Hook was called into the Council and mentioned that Sir Joseph Sheldon had spoken to him of fifty acres of land which he believed belonged to Chelsey College. Ordered Lord Brouncker to confer with Sir Joseph Sheldon about this.

Dr Grew proposed by the Bishop of Chester as a Curator to the Royal Society for the Anatomy of Plants for a year, upon subscriptions amounting to fifty pounds, to be made by such members of the Society who would be willing to contribute. Council approved this proposal, and ordered it should be made known to the body of the Royal Society at their next meeting in order to acquire subscriptions.

Moved by the Vice-President, and approved by the Council, that whereas Thursday proved inconvenient for many members of the Society to meet, the day might be changed back to Wednesday again for the weekly meeting day. Council to make this known to the Society at their next public meeting on Thursday.

Treasurer ordered to pay one years salary to Mr Hook.
