' Mr Hunt reported that he had been with Dr Pope and that he answered that he would either returne the books or their vallue.

The Council finding a Chasm in the Journal Books for about two Years a Journal book being wanting, and thinking it proceeded from the negligence of the Clerk, Ordered that the Secretarys take care for the future, that no such matter be suffered.

It was agreed and ordered by ballot that any peson who should inform the Society of any matters or observations wherby Naturall knowledge may be improved, leaveing such observtions in writeing with the Secretary shall be repaid his Charges and have a gratification according as is probvided by an Order of the 25th of January 1699 concerning Experiments.

The Secretary proposed that a certain number of Persons should appointed to entertain the Society with Experiments or Observations at their meetings, on each meeting day one after another.

The Secretary offered to doe this once in 4 or 5 or 6 days.

This was referred to another meeting this day 7 night.

It was ordered that Mr Hunt should send the former Order about arrears at the Lodgings of the Members of the Society, and that all the Members should be spoke to by their freinds to comply with it, and that the Secretary should sign them.

It was Ordered that 5 Guineas should be given to Mr Pepys by the Treasurer to be distributed to the Officers of the East India Company , for the present lately received.

It was ordered that the Treasurer should pay Dr Sloan Ten pounds he paid Mr Vernon.

The Vice President and a Secretary informing the Council that Mr Halley acquainted them that he had left a Deputy Dr Arburthnett to officiate in his place as Clerk to the Society. The Councill ordered the bookes to be searched about this Office and what was done ion it to be looked into next meeting of the Council. '
