' The minutes of the former Council being read the President acquainted the Council that the present Council was Summoned upon Account of an Intimation given to the Royal Socirety that it was the desire of Prince Mentzicoff to be chosen a member of this Society.

Whereupon the Extract of a Letter was read sent from Peterburgh dated June the 25th 1714 to Mr Samuel Shepherd Merchant in London, Signed Spilman and Hodgkin in which the desire of the Prince's Election was intimated with his Titles added thereto Viz: Illustrious Highness Alexander de Menzicoff Prince of the Roman and Russian Empire, Lord of Oranien-bourg, first Minister of State; Generalisimo of the Cavalry, Governour General of the Congress, Knight of the Order of the Elephant and of the White and Black Eagle etc whereupon the Said Prince was unanimously approved of by the Council to be proposed as a Candidate to the Gentlemen of the Society. '
