' Dr Arbuthnot was sworn of the Council

The President reported to the Council that some posts had lately been Set up which obstructed the passage of Coaches to the back door of the Repository, to the great inconvenience of Such members of the Society who usually came in that wa, upon which it was.

Ordered that Mr Hauksbee go to Mr Frewin, Solicitor to the Society, and desire him to take Measures, that those posts be forthwith removed, '

Ordered;
To pay bill for twelve chairs for the use of the Society of five pounds, eight shillings
To place a copy of Mr Keck's will before the next Council in order to apply his Benefaction according to the intent of the donor.
That the Statutes be read at the meetings of the Society at the discretion of the President.

' The five following drafts of Statutes were read, and by ballot referred to the next Council;
1. That no Person under the degree of a Peer of Great Britain or Ireland shall be proposed to be a Fellow of the Society but by the recommendation of three Members one at least of which shall be of the Council who shall at the same time give an Account of his Qualifications.
2. That any Person residing out of Great Britain, who Shall be Elected into the Society, Shall be a Fellow of the Society, without Subscribing the Obligation, Giving Bond for Contributions, paying his AdmissIon Money, or being Admitted.
3. That it be in the power of the Council to dispense with the Admission etc of any Person chosen into the Society though residing in Great Britain, whose habitation shall be above forty Miles from London, and to Order his name to be put into the Catalogue..
5. That however no Person Shall have a Right to be present at the meetings of the Society or to give his Vote at any Election till he Shall have been Admitted.
4. Provided that every Person whose Admission shall have been dispenced with, shall within four Months after his coming to London, comply with all the terms required by the Statutes, otherwise his Election to be void.'
