Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; Henry James Brooke; Robert Brown; Samuel Hunter Christie; John Frederic Daniell; Dr. Robert Lee; Sir John William Lubbock; William Hasledine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Charles Wheatstone; the President, Spencer Joshua Alwyn Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Report of the Auditors of the Treasurer's accounts, stating a balance of £1,994 7s. 1d. The death of John David Roberton, Assistant Secretary, at the Society's apartments on 13 November. Letter from George Dollond, n.d., to President and Council, full text entered into the minutes: presenting a sculpture bust of John Dollond by Mr. Garland, the thanks of Concil given for the present. Letter from William Blake, 30 November 1843, to the Marquess of Northampton, full text entered into the minutes: presenting a sculpture bust of James Watt by James Heffernan after Francis Chantrey, thanks given. Letter from William Newton, 18 November 1843, to Charles Few; with a memorandum of agreement between Newton and Joseph Lyall, 4 November 1843, on letting of grazing land at Mablethorpe, full text entered into the minutes. Letter from Charles Few, Covent Garden, 25 November 1843, to Sir John William Lubbock, full text entered into the minutes: on the wills of Thomas Botfield and Edwin Hill Handley, containing bequests to the Royal Society, including a lithographed portrait of Schelling; with extracts from their wills. Resolved that Mr. Few should obtain a full copy of the will of Edwin Hill Handley.
