DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: William Bowman; Henry James Brooke; Samuel Hunter Christie; John Frederic Daniell; Thomas Graham; John Thomas Graves; William Hallows Miller; Peter Mark Roget; James Walker; the President, Spencer Joshua Alwyn Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Report of the auditors for the Treasurer's accounts, showing a balance of £1,940 12s. 8d. Mr. Graham applied for 30 ounces of palladium from Dr. Wollaston's bequest for Professor Wohler of Gottingen, granted. Resolved that an alphabetical index to the volume of printed Council minutes be made under the superintendence of the senior Secretary. The Duke of Hamilton to be recommended for election as a Trustee of Sir John Soane's Museum.
