DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; William Thomas Brande; John George Children; William Clift; Reverend James Cumming; Michael Faraday; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; Charles Konig; Reverend George Peacock; William Hasledine Pepys; Reverend Baden Powell; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Professor Rigaud and George Peacock to be added to the Committee for examining Manuscripts, each committee member to be allowed to take away two or three volumes of letter books. Treasurer authorised to procure furniture for Mr. Roberton's room. The Marquis of Breadalbane applied for an extension of time for admission to the Fellowship, granted. Macedoine Melloni proposed by Michael Faraday as a person to whom the Rumford Medal might be awarded. In future, candidates for medals might be proposed at any time, but adjudication would take place in November. List of President, Officers and Members of Council for the ensuing year. The Anniverary Dinner to be deferred, as the President was unable to attend the November Anniversary Meeting, in consequence of difficulties with his eyesight.
