DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Charles Frederick Barnwell; William Thomas Brande; Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie; John George Children; Michael Faraday; Dr. Henry Holland; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; Charles Lyell; Herbert Mayo; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. List of candidates for election as Foreign Members, with proposers. All future official letter from Officers of the Society to be written in English. Draft form letter of thanks adopted, with full text entered into the minutes. Mr. Tynte and the Marquis of Breadalbane granted extensions of time for admission to the Fellowship. Resolution of Council of 13 December 1827 relating to the deposit of papers for consideration of the Committee of Papers and Council to be rescinded. Resolution of Council of 12 February 1829 relating to the prohibition on taking new books or periodicals from the Library, amended. Letter from Richard Taylor, Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, 20 January 1835, to John William Lubbock, full text entered into the minutes: agreeing to sell Royal Society journals, abstracts and catalogues, offer accepted. Charles Lyell to be allowed to append a map and illustrations to his Bakerian Lecture, in agreement with J. G. Children.
