Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. Baily applied for permission to take Graham's brass standard yard and French metres to his house, for making comparisons, granted. Statutes and part statutes relating to the Assistant Secretary repealed and amended. A Librarian to be appointed at a salary of £50 per annum, to attend on two stated days of the week. W. E. Shuckard appointed Librarian and Mr. Roberton appointed Assistant Secretary. Letter from Mr. Few, relating to the Society's property on Coleman Street, J. W. Lubbock to confer with Few and Mr. Wigram on the matter. Messrs. Arnold and Dent directed to clean the Society's clocks. Mr. Lubbock granted leave to borrow Fraunhofer's apparatus. Letter from James Hunter. Librarian at the University of St. Andrews, applying for a copy of the Greenwich Observations, granted. |
